The Gili Islands

The Gili Islands

The Gili Islands are located 30 miles from bustling Bali and less than 2 miles from the stunning backdrop of Lombok. The Gilis have become the new must see destination for those seeking something away from Balis crowded streets.

The other Gili Islands, Gili Air and the quietest Gili Meno, are a short kayak or boat trip away, providing a nice day trip for those wanting to see all 3 of the Gili Islands.

With local island laws prohibiting mopeds and cars on any of the Gili Islands, it's the colourful sight and sounds of horse carts and bicycles meandering through cobbled stone and sand streets that make these islands so different.

It's no wonder that The Lonely Planet voted the Gilis in its top 10 world destinations to visit a few years back.

Gili Teak Resort is located on the western sunset side of Gili Trawangan, only an 8 minute cycle ride from the vibrant village center and main arrival point in the harbour. This has the advantage of making it easily accessible to night life whilst maintaining a quiet sublimity for guests to relax and unwind.

Gili Trawangan is a coconut palm covered island surrounded by white sand beaches
with sunrise views of the infamous Mt Ringani volcano in Lombok and sunset views of the beautiful Mt Agung on Bali.

Being the most developed of the 3 Gili Islands Gili Trawangan has the biggest variety of everything, 1st class restaurants offering fresh fish, lobster, BBQ meats and fine wines are mixed amongst local Indonesian Warungs, and fresh organic juice and health bars scattered around the harbour and surrounding beach front.  Add to this the local night market providing a dazzling assortment of local delicacies with long tables and benches for guests to mingle and get to know one another means there is something different for everyone to try during their stay.

Diving on the Gilis

Gili T also offers a fantastic mix of diving with many dive schools offering diving for beginners right through to instructor courses with instruction available in most languages. Arguably the turtle capital of the world its a great place to do your Open Water diver course on Gili Trawangan.  With tons of turtles and spectacular variety of fish life and coral just off the main beaches, easy access diving, snorkelling and swimming is a way of life.

Other activities available are tennis, yoga, horse riding, kayaking, surfing, walking, shopping and even golf on Lombok reachable by private speed boat only 20 minutes away, so there is as much or as little as one wants to do.
